Who We Are
About us
50 Years Of Existence
The Office of the Public Protector-Zambia (OPP-Z) was established under the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016 and operationalised by the Public Protector Act No. 15 of 2016, replacing the Commission for Investigations. The OPP-Z serves as the countryβs Ombudsman institution, mandated to address grievances of maladministration in the public sector.
Maladministration encompasses a wide range of issues, including rudeness, unfair treatment, negligence, poor service delivery, and failure to act by public officials. Through its oversight function, the OPP-Z promotes fairness, accountability, and efficiency in public administration, ultimately strengthening public trust in state institutions.
