The Office of the Registrar is responsible for receiving complaints against state institutions and facilitating public hearings to prevent and resolve incidences of maladministration. Its specific functions include:
Facilitating public hearings to receive submissions.
Coordinating alternative dispute resolution (ADR) sessions.
Issuing summons, search warrants, arrest warrants, and writs to compel the attendance of witnesses, provide evidence, and ensure enforcement.
Keeping an account of all fees and other monies payable or paid to the Public Protector.
Maintaining records of investigations, proceedings, decisions, and other documents associated with the Public Protector.
Maintaining a register of orders, investigations, complaints, proceedings, decisions, and submissions for efficient storage and retrieval.
Communicating decisions and orders of the Public Protector.
Administering oaths to witnesses, complainants, and representatives of state institutions appearing before the Public Protector.
Providing session recording services during alternative dispute resolution sessions and public hearings.
This office ensures efficient coordination and proper record-keeping to support the Public Protector’s mandate.
